 The term "spoken word recording" covers a wide range of applications: talking books, radio and television commercials, theater, readings of poetry or short stories, multimedia presentations, education (including distance learning), or archiving speeches by corporate, political, or religious leaders. If desired, these recordings may be edited for content and time, and may have a musical accompaniment.
